Two-and-a-half years after SA’s renewable energy feed-in tariff (Refit) process was announced, potential independent power producers (IPP s) have been told that the process is illegal, and rates for power procurement will now be based on a competitive bidding process rather than on fixed tariffs.
The move leaves investors reeling, wondering why they poured money into projects that may never see the light of day.
